1つ前の記事で書いた、Foster CityにあるEdgewater Placeの再開発計画（商業施設を1/4に減らして、住宅を建てる計画）は、どうやら一時凍結となったようです。
今回の計画に反対する署名運動がインターネット上で行われたのですが、そこに次の更新記事が記載されていました（一部抜粋）。
We thank each and every one of you who signed our online petition and forwarded it to your friends! Your roughly 2000 electronic signatures and over 600 passionate comments, all collected in under a week, were presented to the City Council of Foster City both electronically and in printed form.
Our collective voices were heard! Based in part on your many signatures and comments, the City Council unanimously agreed that Edgewater Place Shopping Center should not be re-zoned to add residential units, at least for now. If a modified proposal re-emerges in the future, we hope you will again join forces to prevent an outside developer from profiting at the expense of our quality of life. But for now, pat yourselves on the back for a job well done, and for mobilizing so quickly.
曰く、1週間以内に集まった約2000の署名と600のコメントはFoster Cityの市議会に提出され、市議会はEdgewater Placeに住宅建設するためのゾーン変更を、少なくとも現時点では許可しないことに満場一致で同意とのことです。
話では、Edgewater Placeの再開発計画は、Edgewater Placeがイマイチ商業的に成功していないとの判断が根底にあるようで、署名を呼びかけた人は、Edgewater Placeで買い物してあげてねーとも呼びかけています。
